Getting Started

I made this Google Sheet for the age old question "What should I change for my 3D Prints?" Doing research when I initially started was infuriating, because the answers was always "well it depends" and while, yes, it does depend, I though back to the years when I was in business school and it was to always charge 300-500% above cost. So that was how this spreadsheet was created. Over time I've added some additional features and those updates can be found here. If you want to track your electricity cost and kWh of your machine, this isn't for you.

Make sure you go to the Google Sheet and make a copy for yourself to use.

PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU MAKE A COPY BEFORE EDITING DATA (File > Make a Copy)

Setup

Go to the Settings sheet at the bottom and make sure you fill everything in. Below is an explanation of which item does what.

Labor Cost/Hr: If you are doing design work for a project or a pre-process that needs to be done, you can use this to factor that in.
Processing Fee:
This is a percentage that covers the cost of doing non-cash transactions when you sell an item, such as credit card processing fees.
Cost / Machine Hour: the hourly cost for the machine to run.
Post Labor Cost/ Hr: The hourly amount for post processing an item, like assembling items.
Multiplier: The multiplier to make Profit. 3.5 is equal to 350%. Usually 3-5 is best depending on your market.
Set Discount: A pre defined discount that can be used in sales & calculates the Fixed Discount Price on the Products Sheet. Good for making sure you are still making money.

Optional:

Layer Width: The normal layer width you use (default is 0.42)
Layer Height:
The normal layer height you plan to print with (default is 0.2

These two fields are used to calculate the mac volumetric speed (mvs3) of your filament on the "Filament Inventory" sheet. This is meant to be used as reference as certain slicers cannot hold a lot of profiles, so this is to help with that.

Once everything is filled in on the Settings sheet, the Products sheet is meant to give you idea of how to price your items.

Products

Here is a description of each column:

Product: Manual entry field, for the name of your product
Filament Cost: The cost of filament used. Usually pulled from Bambu Studio or your slicer.
Other Costs: Other hardware costs (eg.: keychains, etc)
Print Hours: Total hours the print takes in decimal hours. e.g.: 1.5 hours is equal to 1 hour, 30 mins. There is a "Mins to Decimal Hrs" sheet for help with converting those numbers.
Labor Hrs: Decimal Hours to prep a project.
Post Process Hrs: The time it take you to post process an item in decimal hours.
Qty on Plate: How many items are on the plate. Or if you are doing a multipart assembly, and lets say you have 3 parts that make up your model, you can place 4 of each part on the plate, your qty is 4
Cost: Ultimately the least you should charge to break even
Sale Price
: What you should charge to make a profit. This gives you a range to decide between your Sale Price & your cost per item.

Sale Price: This is manually defined on what you decide to sell the item for. This will then calculate the Fixed Discount.
Fixed Discount Price: the Sale price with a fixed discount added from the Settings Sheet. This is useful for people that send out abandoned cart coupon codes to make sure that you'll still make money after the discount.

Plate Profit: The amount you make after the entire plate of items is sold minus processing fees.
Item Profi
t: Similar to Plate Profit, but for a single item on the plate
%Profit:
The percentage profit you will make.

Filament (g): A reference field if you want to make note on how much filament the project took for planning re-prints of larger projects.
Notes: for...um... notes?
Designer: If you you pay licensing fees to a designer, this is just to help you keep track of what designer designed which product.

⚠️ NOTE: "Qty on Plate" must be at least "1" otherwise you'll get an error.

For the next items are additional tools and aren't necessary to use the product calculator.

Common Part Costs

This sheet is to help you keep track of items and their cost to be used in the "Other Costs" field on the Products Sheet.

Image: A reference image for parts. Using the menu: Insert > Image > Insert Image in Cell
Item: The item name
Cost ea.: Automatically calculated
Link: Ad a link for easy reordering
Pkg Price: This should be the total amount with taxes to purchase this item
Pkg qty: This is the total quantity that came in the package.
Shrink %
: This is the amount in which items that are purchased in bulk may arrive broken or maybe they get broken or lost. It helps account for that in the Cost ea. (usually 3-10%)

Pricing

This is a quick reference sheet that auto populates information from the Products sheet. Overall using this calculator on a mobile device can prove problematic, this sheet is to help with that, showing you your items with the sale price you set & the cost for each product. This is useful for looking up a price when you are at a market and maybe you just want to let it go at cost to get rid of it 😉
